Ohio Sports Betting Apps

Last Updated: April 8, 2024

Ohio sports betting apps haven’t launched yet, but that could change as early as Fall 2022. Lawmakers in Ohio were able to pass a sports betting bill, and Governor Mike DeWine signed that.

According to the law, the sports betting industry has to launch by January 1, 2023, but the state is gearing up for an earlier launch. When it finally goes live, Ohio could become a massive sports betting market, and both online and retail sports betting will be available.

The online sports betting licenses will be reserved for partners of the professional sports teams, casinos, and racinos in the state. As many as 25 online sportsbooks can launch from the beginning, but that number could double over time.

Each casino and sports team can apply for a second online skin after proving that it would be financially beneficial to the state. This will likely be a slow process after the initial wave of sportsbooks launch.

Ohio Sports Betting Apps

Ohio sports betting apps haven’t launched yet, but that will change by January 1, 2023. Ohio stands to emerge into a massive sports betting market, and both online and retail sports betting will be available.

Potential Ohio Sports Betting Apps

When Ohio finally launches online sports betting, there will be plenty of sportsbooks lining up to enter the state. Of course, it’s impossible to know every sportsbook coming to Ohio, but the following sportsbooks should get the first crack at partnering with a casino or professional team.

Bally Bet

Bally Bet mobile betting will be an option in Ohio as this sportsbook already has a partner. The Cleveland Browns partnered with Bally Bet, and it will become an official sports betting partner of the NFL team.

Barstool

Barstool Sportsbook has expanded throughout the United States, and Ohio will likely be one of the next targets. Penn National Gaming is behind the Barstool Sportsbook, and it has deals with casinos throughout the country.

BetMGM

When sports betting launches in Ohio, you can expect to see BetMGM offer mobile betting right away. The MGM Northfield Park is already operating in Ohio, and that casino will allow BetMGM to launch without any issue.

Caesars

Caesars will be an online sports betting option in Ohio as it already owns Eldorado Gaming Scioto Downs. The application process will still have to occur, but Caesars should be one of the first to launch.

DraftKings

The DraftKings app is already available in Ohio, but it currently only offers DFS options. It won’t take much work for DraftKings to add sports betting to the app, which has been done in several other states. DraftKings will have to find a partner before going live in Ohio.

FanDuel

FanDuel is another company that already has DFS games in Ohio, and it will be adding online sports betting at some point. You should expect FanDuel to reach a deal with a professional sports team, as that is what they have done in other states.

FOX Bet

FOX Bet is one of the newest online sports betting options to enter the market, and Ohio is a perfect target. FOX Sports back FOX Bet, and the two NFL teams in Ohio will make this a top target of the sportsbook.

Hard Rock

Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati is a popular destination in Ohio, and that casino will be able to offer online sports betting. The Hard Rock Sportsbook is not as big as others on this list, but it should be a legal option in Ohio.

How to Use Ohio Sports Betting Apps

Ohio Sports Betting Apps vs. Online Sportsbooks

A mobile app is essentially a smaller version of an online sportsbook, but it also comes with plenty of benefits. Perhaps the most significant advantage is that you can take a mobile app anywhere, and you don’t have to have a computer to log in.

The experience with a mobile app will generally be faster, and some sportsbooks will even have specific bonuses available for mobile customers. For example, viewing an online sportsbook allows more to be on the page, but the sites could load slower than the mobile app.

Are Ohio Sports Betting Apps Available In The App store?

Yes, you will be able to find Ohio sportsbooks in the Apple App store once this industry launches. Typically you can download the app a couple of days before launch, but you won’t be able to place any wagers until it goes live.

The App Store should load the Ohio sports betting app based on your location, but you will want to ensure that you have the right sportsbook.

Are Ohio Sports Betting Apps Available In The Google Play store?

Some Ohio sportsbooks will be available in the Google Play store, while others will not. For the sportsbooks that aren’t available, you should be able to find a link to download that app on the sportsbook’s website.

There isn’t much difference between an Apple app and an Android app, and the odds will always be the same at each sportsbook.

Bonuses At Ohio Sports Betting Apps

Since Ohio will be such a competitive sports betting market, there should be some terrific sports betting bonuses available to new customers. However, when it comes to online sports betting bonuses, there will be plenty of different options that you can find.

A sports betting bonus is offered by sportsbooks to attract customers, which turns into a big competition between each option. These bonuses are usually offered for new customers, but you will also find some for returning customers.

Some sports betting bonuses require a promo code, while others are available to all new customers in that state. So before searching for an online sportsbook in Ohio, it’s a good idea to understand the difference in the bonuses.

Deposit Bonus

A deposit bonus is a type of offer that is only unlocked after an initial deposit is made at the sportsbook. Deposit bonuses can come in a few different forms, but you will have to take action before getting any bonus from the site.

It’s common to see a minimum deposit of $10 required to take advantage of a promotion, but the offer usually gets better with the more money you deposit.

No-Deposit Bonus

A no-deposit bonus is the opposite of a deposit bonus, as this is just given out as soon as an account is created. A no-deposit bonus is usually in the form of free bets, and the offer is typically smaller than what you would receive after making a deposit.

A no-deposit bonus is also usually added on top of the deposit bonus.

Deposit Match

One of the most common types of deposit bonuses is what is called a first deposit match. This means that the sportsbook will match your first deposit amount, but it might not be a 100% match.

The additional money is then placed into your account as sportsbook cash or simply free bets. You will have to wager that amount of cash before looking to make a withdrawal.

First Bet Rebate

A first bet rebate is another popular deposit bonus offered by sportsbooks in the state of Ohio. Some of the top sportsbooks will have this as an option, and it could be worth $1,000 or more.

With a first bet rebate, it serves as an insurance policy on your first wager at the site. If that initial wager loses, you will receive a refund for that amount at the sportsbook.
